I am the Reception Ambassador at the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center( NAEC) located at the Dallas Executive Airport.
The NAEC is part of the Commemorative Air Force, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to protect WWII historical treasures such as the B29 & B24 bomber aircraft. Some of our space is a working hangar which houses this aircraft. Another is the Museum that showcases artifacts from the WWII era.
I am the face of the NAEC. The first person that people see when they come into our building. I warmly welcome and greet all who enter, take admission fees, issues the appropriate days wristbands, and briefly orient visitors to the Museum. I answer phones, take messages and help coworkers with projects. Also communicating any maintenance issues to the proper authority. Personality plays a huge role in that one must be friendly and approachable, enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, organized, able to multitask and tackle whatever may come along at a moment’s notice.
I have the extreme pleasure of meeting people from all over the world, such as the gentleman who is an active member of the French Air Force Reserve. He, in fact, followed the CAF and was in love with the CAF’s strive to preserve the aircraft used in WWII. He could name each plane every piece of our Nose Art came from. I meet many who share their stories of days gone by. I am very honored that they share these stories with me.
